Personal Biography
Does anyone else find it a little odd that Steve Munford gets so much coverage in this article? One would assume an article about "Sophos" would feature the company slightly more prominently than 1 of its executives? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.136.198.219 (talk) 12:55, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
good products
This does sound like a company promo, but I have a friend that works with their Anti-Virus products and he swears by it.
- I too use and am very happy with Sophos products but it doesn't excuse what reads like a marketing brochure in an encyclopedia. I propose to chop the marketing speak unless somebody objects. --Ali@gwc.org.uk 16:44, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
I agree to a certain extent. Sophos has a fantastic reputation with its' customers - the highest rate of industry retention, but has very little exposure outside of the UK so the marketing 'spin' does help. I agree the wiki is an encyclopedia so therefore marketing blah has limited cred. The flip side is - if the marketing is indeed factual then it qualifies as a wiki blog.
Just my 2 cents. - Sophos user NZ
- You rarely see Sophos adverts - they seem to spend a lot of time at industry shows and the like. Within the last 3/4 years, the company has exploded - the product ranges were largely stagnant, and their offerings were few, but now they are offering a world of solutions for servers, endpoints and everything else in between. Anyway, marketing bumph has no place on Wikipedia, just actual information about the company and it's products! KingDaveRa 18:25, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

They have an excellent PR office and are always in the IT news sections! Great marketing department. Their technical support staff are always available by phone or email - but they are not interested in fixing product bugs. Sophos Antivirus performed as one of the worst products in a recent trial held by our company. We ended up using a competing product - Sophos user for 4 years and very pleased with our new (Non-Sophos) antiviral. Everything is good now... Nope not affiliated with any antiviral companies.

Merge Sophos Antivirus
There is a suggestion to merge sophos av but this seems to have already taken place... 82.17.131.125 (talk) 19:12, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
No anti-virus, etc. for home users.....
"Unlike other security companies, Sophos does not produce anti-virus and anti-spam solutions for home users, but instead has always focused on the business market."
Okay. Fair enough. But do they state why exactly they don't do anything for home users? If they do mention why, then including that reasoning in the article after this statement would be worthwhile. Regards, 24.10.181.254 (talk) 05:03, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
The reason is simple: to keep good response times from a free tech support to businesses/corporations. That being said, Sophos does sometimes offer for free a home user version of their endpoint solution (for home use) to their business customers. The idea here is that the employees will keep their machines clean at home, & this will in turn improve security in their company's network, making the tech support job of Sophos easier.
