I was just looking at "SCHAWAROCH, V., 2002 Phylogeny of a paradigm lineage: the Drosophila melanogaster species group (Diptera : Drosophilidae). Biological Journal of the Linnean Society 76: 21-37." which as far as I know is one of the most recent phylogenies of Sophophora, and she proposes a different tree - with montium and annanasae as sister groups, and mel together with a couple others.
