Notoriety??
[edit]She's clearly an accomplished woman, but does she meet the notoriety requirements? For starters, the article doesn't even say what type of artist she is or anything about her preferred/typical methods and media. What type of projects does she create? What classes does she teach in her academic positions? What have her major or notable installations been? Has she won any awards or been commissioned for work to be installed at a public place/institution or well-known private home or business? If so, which ones? What are her published works about/how were they received/what motivated her to publish?
From the Haystack citation, we can assume she was either a student(artist), teacher, or artist in residence at Haystack, which is an honor, and is something that can be discussed in order to bring this article closer to possibly meeting the notoriety guidelines. Which classes did she take or teach or, at the very least, when was she at Haystack? If she was a student or an artist in residence, was she selected by jury?)
In short, we need to know a lot more about her, her accomplishments, and her role in the art world to be able to determine if she, as a subject on Wikipedia, meets the notoriety guidelines. She must stand out enough from all the other artists/professors/chairs out there or must meet the notoriety requirement some other way (for instance, if she was already well known for something else). For instance, Elle McPherson is quite famous and definitely meets the notoriety requirements, yet her line of lingerie does not have its own article. It's completely appropriate to discuss the lingerie collection in the article on her and, arguably, it could warrant an article of its own. Same concepts with Kravitz Design, a company owned and run by Lenny Kravitz. (Although both of these businesses could conceivably be noteworthy enough to eventualy have their own articles.)
As I said, you need to make the case as to why this person has more notoriety than any other artist/teacher/professor or attendee at Haystack. Hananekosan (talk) 20:39, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
