Model history

I've updated the first paragraph regarding the now incorrect information that the NEX-F3 is the latest model (that's now the NEX-3N). But even after my edit, the 1st paragraph is incomplete; the NEX-5R and the NEX-6 and most of the camcorders aren't mentioned. I'm not sure, though, whether we need a complete model history in the first paragraph, esp. when there's an exhaustive table underneath. --78.43.132.74 (talk) 15:27, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the update. I agree with you that we don't need a full model history in the first paragraph, in particular when we have a complete list further down. As per WP:LEAD, the intro should just give a short overview about the topic. I guess, this is a left-over from when the system was still very new and small. Lens table

I don't think this would be a good idea. Third-party equipment is not normally viewed as part of the "official" system. There is no guarantee that an original manufacturer's products will work with third-party equipment (although this is highly desireable from the consumer's point of view, of course). Also, feature sets, level of integration and nomenclature may differ significantly between vendors. Therefore, third-party lenses should be listed separately.

Definitely not. I think that 3rd party lenses should NOT be listed in the article to start with. IMHO it'd be good enough to have a list of 3rd party lens manufacturers. Somehow List of Sony A-mount lenses does not include 3rd party glass, so I don't see any reason to include a list here. SkywalkerPL (talk) 11:21, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Eliminate unnecessary information

The list includes every known third-party adapter in the market. It's common knowledge and takes space.

Please also remove the Body Code, Lens ID and VX Code as they provide no significance.

VX codes are used by Sony throughout development and in logistics. Often, press announcements and images contain these codes, thereby knowing these codes allows better reverse lookup of other information about a lens. Lens IDs are exchanged as part of the lens protocol and they are also embedded into the extended Exif data in every stored image. Without knowing these codes, third-party image processing software would be much less capable (no automatic identification of lenses, no automatic corrections, etc.) or even not exist.
