His mother is identified as Mashpee Wampanoag, but it is unclear what the source is for saying he is of Natick/Narragansett ancestry as well. His mother's obituary, which was the cite for this, makes no reference to that part of her heritage. No sources said that Dove identified as Native American but he would have been considered to belong to his mother's clan.Parkwells (talk) 18:03, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That information has been poorly sourced for years. One of the users who added it (I forget who) claimed that he was a cousin of Dove's wife, or something, but I've looked into things myself, and never had any luck confirming the details about Dove heritage.
