Initial comments
[edit]- "published by Sega for the Dreamcast console" - really? I would lose console?
- Done. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- "The game has also been released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows via online services" - when were they re-released? The infobox gives this information out but this lead does not
- Done. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- "Scenery was influenced by locations in the United States such as San Francisco and Yosemite National Park" - the Yosemite National Park
- I don't know if it's that way in UK English, but here in the States the "the" is omitted (except for a few choice colloquial examples like The Ohio State University, which students will correct you over if you drop it). The park's article doesn't use it, which is probably a good barometer. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oh it's just that it's included in a sentence from the development section "and from other American locations such as the Yosemite National Park", at first I didn't think it was a problem but reading it again made me think it should have been in the lead. I didn't know if the word "the" was omitted anyway, I thought it was on and off everywhere ☯ Jaguar ☯ 20:32, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, you're right. Good catch; I removed it in its Development instance. Tezero (talk) 20:35, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- I would have thought by this time I would have been an expert on the English language... ha ☯ Jaguar ☯ 20:43, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- I thought that the lead didn't mention much on the development, but nevertheless it does summarise everything. Also "Development spanned one and a half years", when did it begin? Directly after the first Adventure?
- It's implied in the source that they started Adventure 2 right after finishing localizing Adventure for the U.S., so I'll add that. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- "and the game as a whole has received numerous accolades" - which game received accolades? The GameCube port or the original version?
- Both combined. It's basically one game on two platforms; the differences are minor. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- I don't have a problem with the plot section, it does appear to be well written on the prose side of things. If you would like to expand it after this review, it would be a good idea to do it if you plan to FAC this. If I recall this game did introduce a lot of characters
- Adventure 2 added, as far as I can recall, Shadow, Rouge, Maria, the G.U.N. organization, the President, and maybe Gerald Robotnik (I think he appeared in Shadow somewhere; I can't remember). Other than Shadow and Rouge, none of these appeared anywhere else but in Shadow the Hedgehog when it's delving into Shadow's past, but probably still worth mentioning if I do restructure this section. I wasn't planning on FA, but it's a possibility. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- "Four Eyed Dragon exclaimed that" - who is this? Someone under a pseudonym? A website?
- GamePro writers tend to use noms de plume, yes. Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
References
[edit]- According to the toolserver there are no dead links
- Nice. Let's hope it stays that way; online game reviewers have been dropping like flies recently... Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Some links in a lot of VG articles have already been vaporized, but this article remains fine ☯ Jaguar ☯ 20:44, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Ref 36, is VGMDb a reliable source to use?
- I wouldn't have expected so just by looking, but it's in most if not all of our GA music articles (pick any Final Fantasy game, head to the music article that probably exists for it, and you'll likely see it) and also in Sonic 1 and 2 (both GAs, obviously). Tezero (talk) 20:24, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- My mistake, I thought that it was related (but not directly) to IMDB, or some form of it. The more you know ☯ Jaguar ☯ 20:43, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
On hold
[edit]This is a nice article, it shouldn't seem that difficult to pass the GAN. This was also the last Sonic I have ever played. Not much to point out though, other than mostly those prose issues, I think this could be another GA. Will put this on hold, let me know if you have any questions ☯ Jaguar ☯ 20:01, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Is there anything else, Jaguar, or are we good? Tezero (talk) 21:08, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Nope, all good, thanks for doing this so quickly. Let's promote this ☯ Jaguar ☯ 21:11, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
