[edit]Thank you, whoever, for cleaning up vandalism on this page
The entire "Themes" section was lifted from Sparknotes.com, so I removed it.
"Another major theme is the idea that the individual must find freedom from not only saving himself." Can anyone make sense of this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.105.211.80 (talk) 13:57, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Year?
[edit]Why is it in the category of 1977 books if it was published in '78? Which is accurate?
Sexism topics in Songs of Solomon?
[edit]iam looking for some essay topics dealing with sexism in her book Songs of Solomon. anybody have any ideas where these can be found? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.218.255.209 (talk) 08:17, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Original research?
[edit]There's been a fair number of additions to the Themes section of the article, but none of these cites any sources, and they may well all be original research. Please add some references to support the claims made. Thanks. Aristophanes68 (talk) 00:23, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
Plot Summary
[edit]I haven't read the book, but the plot summary seems to be all over the place and definitely needs help. At one point it is unclear whether the father Macon or the son Macon hasn't spoken to the sister Pilate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peter'sGal (talk • contribs) 01:23, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
The book never explicitly states that Solomon flew back to Africa. In fact, the only other times "flight" is mentioned is the insurance agent and Milkman's flight at the end of the book. It's possible that Solomon actually committed suicide; in fact, the location Milkman jumped from at the end of the book is named "Solomon's Leap" JsKingBoo (talk) 00:18, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

There needs to be an acknowledgment of storytelling as a theme in this novel. It is important that subjectivity in perspective and point of view is addressed. |

Evaluation of Article
[edit]This article is written on Toni Morrison’s novel Song of Solomon. Although I have not read this novel by Morrison I have viewed other discussions of the novel online to get a better understanding. The article does seem to be relevant to the topic of the novel. The summary gave me a good idea of what the novel was about. The only comment I have on the summary is in the conclusion. I was somewhat confused about what “flight” was referring to and why it was quoted. With further reading I discovered it was referring to a suicidal death. This was something discussed among other Wikipedia members on the talk page as well.
The “style” section could be stronger if there was further development and supporting references to contribute to a rich discussion. The “genres” section could be expanded with more detail and examples from the novel. The “reception” section is an interesting touch. It is entertaining and it contributed to my judgment of the novel. In a way, it gave me a desire to read the novel. The external links held some helpful information. These links could be used in adding more to the article.
A section on characters and their descriptions could be added to the article. There is some character descriptions in the summary but a character section would contribute to the structure of the article and its organization. Adding a character section would be helpful as a reference for reading the summary. A section dedicated to critical reviews would also be an interesting contribution to the article. I suppressed two external links directing to fashion ads. I am sorry to say that this article is quite useless’ the author of the summary has read the book but has no clue what it is about. The article should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E0A:13A:1D70:F586:375B:D18A:4BC2 (talk) 15:40, 22 April 2023 (UTC)
