Notability of article
[edit]@Htanaungg: added notability tag on this article, calling for "reliable secondary sources that are independent of the topic and provide significant coverage of it beyond a mere trivial mention." All 5 sources meet that criterion. They are detailed articles about Sonesta from the premier business press in Forbes and Dun+Bradstreet, and from the relevant industry press in Hotel Management and Skift. This chain is one of the biggest hotel chains in the world, and has corresponding major press coverage. Maybe someone can explain what more is needed in the way of sources, or I'll remove the tag. - Kim9988, cited sources are more commercial than neutral and reliable. The article also appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Htanaungg (talk) 05:12, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Egeymi: @FMSky: @Curious Shadow: @Gotitbro: @FrantisekKorbel: @JustStalin: @Dr.Callahan: @Bestoernest: @Esprit15d: These editors have contributed to the Forbes article, and may be able to address new page reviewer Htanaungg's concern that Forbes is commercial, not neutral, not reliable, not independent of Sonesta International Hotels. @FailedMusician: @Plot Spoiler: have contributed to the Skift article and may address concerns here about Skift as an independent reliable source. WP:RS deprecates e-commerce sources, but otherwise has no rule against commercial sources. Most journalism and academic sources are commercial. Kim9988 (talk) 16:44, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Kim9988:, Sonesta is notable, but calling it one of the biggest hotel chains isn't quite accurate. Both Forbes and Skift are independent reliable source when they are publishing editorials (as opposed to advertorials), and this subject is a good example of their use as such. Hope this helps. - @FailedMusician: Thanks for your comment about notability. Could you cite why it is not one of the biggest hotel chains? It's 12th in the world on List of chained-brand hotels by properties and 20th by number of rooms. Even if that list is incomplete, it's one of the biggest chains in the world. I think one of the sources said it was one of the biggest in the US, but I can't find that cite, so article does not say so yet. Kim9988 (talk) 00:38, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
