ETTA JAMES WAS NOT EVEN PRESENT WHEN THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN, NEITHER WAS LEROY KIRKLAND - PEARL WOODS IS THE SOLE WRITER - BUT AS THEFT WAS RAMPANT IN ORDER FOR ARTISTS TO RECORD WRITER'S SONGS - KIRKLAND and JAMES DEMANDED A THIRD OF IT IN ORDER TO RECORD THE SONG. They robbed PEARL. She also wrote STOP THE WEDDING - which JAMES AND KIRKLAND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH. THEN, I saw ETTA JAMES LYING ON OPRAH ABOUT WHAT INSPIRED HER TO WRITE "SOMETHING's GOT A HOLD ON ME" SHE LIED!!!!! Pearl Woods is my mother.......

  • As an iconic, classic song from the 60s that has been covered ~100s of times, this article is extremely disappointing. There is literally no information about how the song was conceived; the most information included is that of a 2013 cover by some Australian artist. Of course, it's much harder to find information for songs that were released 51 years ago, but it can be done. I went and found a few things that could be added, but it's quite clear the article needs a lot of work. Etta James mentioning the song in her autobiography. Some more good information can be found in this book. Looking at your contributions, it seems that you did this article as an avid Christina Aguilera editor. I advise that if you are actually serious about doing this article, that you get serious with it. I don't know your age, or if you're familiar with the song itself, but there is much, much more than it's current state. With that said, I am failing this article. Good luck if you decide to continue work on the article!  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 03:56, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
