Before I start the review this article needs to be expanded more. Just by typing "Someone Else" Miley Cyrus on Google I found a lot of sources which talk about the track ([1], [2], [3], [4]) but are not included in the article. And I'm sure that you can find many more reviews. Otherwise, I would have to fail this nomination. I Am... ***D.D. 16:09, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- @My love is love: Thanks for picking up my nomination! I've added some more references that beef up each of the sections, let me know what you think! WikiRedactor (talk) 15:31, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
- Great, amazing work. I also checked the prose and it's OK. However, threre are several corrections that can be made.
- 1. Add Recorded= in the article's infobox (I can see that this info is present in the credits and personnel section).
- Done
- 2. In the background and composition section there is some unnecesary info. You don't need to mention which albums were released through Hollywood Records. You can write that she released four studio albums and one EP with that label. The same thing goes with the other songs on Bangerz on which Cyrus raps. You can only mention that there are four other songs on which she raps.
- Done
- 3. Try to include dates in the prose of the Charts section. Like when and at what position did the song debut, how long did it stay there, was its debut position also its peak etc.
After these points are addressed I will pass the article. I Am... ***D.D. 21:16, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
Non-reviewer comment: I hate to burst any bubbles, but so far only one reference on the song independent of the album is used (PopDust), and RSN has recently said it isn't reliable. If this is to pass for GA, needs more third-party coverage outside of album reviews. When sources used in song articles only give brief coverage and/or are album reviews, that's a red flag. - Actually @SNUGGUMS: this song charted on three notable music charts passing the first and most important point of WP:NSONG and has enough prose (13,932 bytes) to have its own article. And if you don't agree with me, you can try to nominate it for deletion. It will be the same case as So Happy I Could Die. I Am... ***D.D. 09:07, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- The problem in this case is that the chart sites only briefly mention the track. As for other tracks, WP:WAX states that how notable one article is cannot be solely used to determine the notability of another article. If this article is to stay, it needs more sources that aren't album reviews. WP:NSONGS states that coverage within the context of an album review does not establish notability and that songs do not merit their own articles if the only coverage they receive is from album reviews. Artists talking about their own works doesn't count as notable coverage, either. I'm not saying this has to be gone, only that it needs more non-album review sources. - @My love is love and SNUGGUMS: I don't have the opportunity to look for additional sources right away, but I will do my best to dig up some more coverage within the next couple of days. In the meantime, I've taken care of some of the other comments brought up in this review. WikiRedactor (talk) 17:35, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- @My love is love and SNUGGUMS: I've added a reference about Miley mentioning "Someone Else" on Ellen, a comparison to the track by Rose Royce from Complex, some Taylor Swift comparisons from The Huffington Post, and some lyrical criticism from Thought Catalog. I went through many pages of Google results, and these appeared to be the only ones of value that offered insight past album reviews. I hope this has helped! WikiRedactor (talk) 22:22, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, the T-Swift comparisons were from Digital Spy :P, but that and Philadelphia Inquirer offer fair bits on the track. That PopDust ref needs to be removed though- it's not a reliable source. As for Ellen, you might face copyright issues with that YouTube link, so I'd remove the URL. Overall, definitely better now. Snuggums (talk / edits) 22:35, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- @SNUGGUMS: Removed the PopDust reference and replaced the YouTube citation with an article from Entertainment Weekly. Thanks for your input! WikiRedactor (talk) 16:10, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
- No problem bud :) Snuggums (talk / edits) 16:14, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
