I'm an Arabic speaker & the Arabic letters' names are, ل /læ:m/ & م /mi:m/: yes it is correct, please let me explain why:
I am Somali and this is not Arabic language it's Somali language that is why we are different, we have our own way of spelling and pronouncing our language and our alphabet is totally different from Arabic Alphabet.
