Romanization
[edit]This may be just a minor thing that is opinion, but my understanding of this is that it should either be the Japanese romanization "Soi Fon" or the Chinese "Sui Fong." Explained (but not 100% verified) in a thread on Lunar's forum by user's Rie and gerbil. Uruz7 04:48, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Lunar's reasoning, but it seems that everyone so far has spelled it Soi Fong. There must be a reason for that - do you know it? I just looked at the manga and it doesn't seem like Soi Fong is written anywhere, but maybe I missed something. Please try to find out the reason why eveyone uses Soi Fong, if not, then we can probably change it, but IMO there needs to be input from more users. -- Ynhockey 20:49, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I know, the only reason for people be using Soi Fong is because they take her real lastname (Fong, in Fong Shaolin) and apply to the codename. But we know that's not the case, if the codename had a family name on it, Yoruichi would just call her "Soi", not "Soi Fong"... and, well, every official source that shows the romanization of the name (the games and S.O.U.L.s, the character book) use "Soifon", never Soi Fong. I really think the wrong romanization, even being popular, should not be used in Wikipedia. Oh, and sorry for eventual bad english, not my original language. Access Timeco 13:12, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
In "Bleach GC: Tasogare ni Mamieru Shinigami", her name is spelt in English as "Soifon".Linkdude20002001 19:22, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
So is there a lesbian thing going on here
[edit]or what. I'm unclear.
- Sorry, this is just fancruft and can't go into the article unless Kubo Tite makes an omake about it or something. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 06:07, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't recall any mention of the sexuality of either Soifon or Yoruichi in the series. There's likely some yuri doujinshi floating around somewhere, but that doesn't belong in this article.-- Anaraug 06:08, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it should go in the article but honestly Bleach has a good deal of lesbianism in it. In one manga I remember Matsumoto coming out naked to confront Inoune on her feeling for Ichigo. Also in the anime Soifon wanted to get Yoruichi a valenintes day gift. not to mention tatsuki playing the manly women always there to protect Orihime. but speculation doesn't belong here--Noman953
- I think we should at least add a section about it, but say it isn't neccerially cannon or something....NinjaPirates!!!

i truly think that Yoruichi and soifon where lovers, because that would exsplain why she got all crazy when she fought her in the saving rukia arc.i think that it should be mention as a possiblitly, or at least that soifon has strong romantic feelings for her.
- No, we're not putting non-canon shipping junk in the article. Soifon obviously is strongly attached to her ex-commander, but any sort of romantic attachment is treated mostly as a joke in the humor omake stuff, and can't be considered authoritative. --tjstrf talk 18:30, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's enough to comment on the fan interpreted subtext. They comment on it in several other things (Xena etc.) so the fact that it's an extremely popular fan pairing should at least get mentioned. But I'll leave that up to you. September 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.190.114 (talk) 13:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
tatsuki is only a tomboy not a lesbian. Matsumoto was taking a bath.Darthwin 01:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
okay, just pointing out that this site states after one omake chapter that Tatsufusa "Appears to have a crush on Soifon" (in which he asks a computer simulated Soi to hit him) but Soi displays about ten times the amount of subtext towards Yoruichi (offering her chocolates, fawning over photos, watching her bathe, wanting to have a phone just for them etc.) and we're not allowed to say that she appears to have a crush? I don't entirely think that's fair. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.190.114 (talk) 15:07, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- ah, i wasn't aware of such an omakechapter and whatever was implied, so i'll revert myself and make someone else decide if it's worthy of mentioning -Twsl 18:40, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
But if you see in the episode were she fight with Yoruichi you will see her say "you are like a little sister to me" and she was so upset is because all of her life she was hold to protect Yoruichi and once Yoruichi left she probably was just felling abandoned. and when she gave Yoruichi candy does not mean any thing it may have just been a gift and was saying something about the fact that it was valentines day when the episode was on. and plus Yoruichi seemed to have stronger attachment to the guy with the green and white hat. and tatsuki if any male figure is more an older brother to Orihime.
- Yes it all makes sense to me now. Soifon only has a sisterly affection for Yoruichi. That's why she took pictures of her whilst she was bathing. Because that's a sisterly thing to do. As is giving a romantic gift, blushing intensley, on valentine's day. Completely sisterly. Yoruichi's attachment to Uruhara is a friendly one (and of course all best friends in anime are romantically attracted to each other. That's why there's so much romantic attraction between Chad and Ichigo /Sarcasm)
- Bottom line: There is more evidence that Soifon is romantically attracted to Yoruichi than not. Nothing solid, but enough to comment on.
all that mean is that Yoruichi does not have a romantic and that is what im am saying —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.62.164.243 (talk) 19:05, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Okay I'm gonna go ahead and ignore your obvious problems with grammar and focus on what you're saying IE there's little to no evidence yoruchi's interested back: It doesn't matter. Chizuru has a crush on Orihime. Orihime doesn't reciprocate. Does that mean we don't mention that Chizuru has a crush? No. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.190.114 (talk) 15:59, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
I think the article as it is handles the issue very well, and should be left alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.245.70.207 (talk) 05:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey Hey Hey! Alright! First! This thing with Soifon and Youraweichie, they are like sisters, the candy is a gift and Soi admires Youraweichie, I have the exact same relationship with my "sister" we've nowen eachother since first grade, neither one of us were exepted by other girls so we found that exeptence in eachother, same story, it's very commen amoung girls, espically younger girls that don't have many other freinds, to create such a sisterly bond, further more, I'm giving her a choclate rose for Valentines day, but I have a boyfreind and love hot guys for goodness sakes! Further on that note, I don't blame Soifon for feeling abanden, someone finally excepts you not just as a person but as much as an older sister, and then just leaves without telling you why, it hurts, I've benn through that twice in my life and, it really hurts, like you've done something wrong but you don't no wat, you want to fix it, you want that person back, but you don't no wat to do anymore, you don'y understand, you feel weak and useless, you feel like a lost child, searching, searching for something, but you don't no wat, I'm very glad it worked out for them, that they have their sisterhood back, I'd give anything to have that back with one of the girls that betray me, and by the way, I'm a fan of YouraweichiexUrahara, now! This thing with Rangiku! Her freind was hurting, so she got out of the tub to comfort her, heck, wen my "sister" and I have sleep overs sometimes we dress in the same room, further more, wen someone you love is hurting like that you drop wat ever your doing to help them, wen my Guinia Pig died I called one of my best freinds and we talked for hours, I dropped wat I was doing wenever my neighbor was having a bad day and I slept over at her house with her to make sure that she was ok, and finally! Orahime, not gay, in fact I like her and Uuryu together, Tatskie, hm, maybe, not real sure but my mom thinks so, thank you! -CaptinAsagi —Preceding unsigned comment added by CaptinAsagi (talk • contribs) 18:32, 21 February 2008 (UTC) You're talking completely bullshit !!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.161.21.221 (talk) 14:15, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Notable Battles
[edit]I'm on an anti notable battles section campaign and you'll find this same message in some other articles. I don't want to be the obnoxious wikipedian who self righteously deletes other peoples contributions. But I feel this section is useless and whatever in it should be in the synopsis. because there should be some symmetry between articles. Either all characters should have notable battles section or none should have it at all. Noman953
- It's a mystery to me why you removed the section from this particular article seing as there's no synopsis section. I will restore it until a synopsis is written. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 09:58, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- You're right I should have added one. I do that right now. Noman953 10:56, 11 December 2006
- I think we should only put it for the characters that have had notibale battles....NinjaPirates!!!
The Zanpakuto thing is mentioned twice..
[edit]Suzumebachi has 2 Paragraphs detailed with the same information, but written differently. Can someone delete one paragraph please? There's no need for two paragraphs..RedEyesMetal 17:45, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Also its stated that she could only maintain the crest for half an hour. When was this stated? If I could remember she said she could only maintain for a short period of time.--Hanaichi 10:15, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
Eh, Hanaichi-san, you confuse me. I remember her stating in Episode 56 or 57 (pretty sure it's 56) that at the time Yoruichi was present in Soul Society, she could only keep Houmonka for an hour, and at the current time, a Houmonka would never come off unless she willed it to. Shaolin Fon?
[edit]Where exactly did the name Shaolin Fon come from? That is, where was it revealed? The fact that the sentence, not to mention the entire history section, is unsourced bothers me. Also, if this is truly her real name, should the article name be changed? Or is this a case of common name over real name? // DecaimientoPoético 19:49, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds like made up fan junk to me, it's not in the databooks. --tjstrf talk 19:52, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- The entirety of the history section (excluding the last para-sentence) is from chapter 159. As for her name, "Soifon" is much more frequently used. ~SnapperTo 22:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
hōmonka
[edit]We should add a picture of her homonka.Ultimaterasengan 00:38, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Not notable, in my opinion. I've seen too many anime articles which are overstuffed with pictures. I'm against it. IceUnshattered (talk) 17:50, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Abilities/Suzumebachi?
[edit]I realized Suzumebachi, Soifon's zanpakuto, has a section of its own. I realize that Soi doesn't have that many other abilities, but she CAN use shunko, as demonstrated in her battle with Yoruichi Shihouin. Because of this, I thought that maybe we should rename the "Suzumebachi" section "Abilities" and put a little bit about shunko in, too. IceUnshattered (talk) 22:54, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
