I don't think "Softly, Softly" was set in Newtown. From memory it was in the South and the Police Force was "Thames...."
Fair use rationale for Image:Ss-tv.jpg
[edit]Image:Ss-tv.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"series early years"
[edit]the phrase "series early years" (1st sentence para 2) needs an apostorophe. But it's haard to know where to put it; it will look clumsy anywhere. I think technically it should be "series' early years" but that still looks dumb. "Series" and programme" are both mentioned in P1 could we maybe have "programme's early years" to avoid the clumsiness?

Originating Storyline
[edit]I believe, but cannot verify, the series began by carrying on a story from the last Z-Cars episode, where having a different organisation of police would have found the kidnapper faster and possibly saved a life. Perhaps I am remembering the transition from Softly-Softly to Task Force?? Anyone recall this story? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maitchy (talk • contribs) 08:13, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- Not sure, but that sound very like the first episode of Softly, Softly: Taskforce where Barlow, newly appointed to head Thamesford CID as had happened at the end of Softly, Softly, fails to find a missing child until after they have been murdered. He and Chief Constable Cullen then decide to set up the eponymous taskforce which is launched in the second episode with Watt being brought in to head it and Hawkins being moved back to CID, Dunarc (talk) 20:45, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
Others Cast section
[edit]I am not sure that Walter Gotell as Chief Con. Arthur Cullen should be in this as although he went on to become a regular in Softly, Softly: Task Force, he made only one appearance in Softly, Softly (in the penultimate episode) in what was the set up for the new series. The similar section at Softly, Softly: Task Force does not include Neil Stacy as A. G. Fenton, who similarly appeared in one episode of it to set up the next spin-off Barlow at Large in which he was a main character. Dunarc (talk) 22:40, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
