Mythology

In popular culture this album has become to some listeners a sort of oracle. Listeners wishing to consult Peter will ask a question before starting the album, and then listen to it through to receive an answer. Citing the vague suggestive lyrics and mystic cover, fans claim that Peter intended this. This ritual was even referred to on an episode of Seinfeld. Although Peter denies that he intended this, it still continues to be a pop-loric ritual.

no. 1 in UK?

Miami Vice OTT?

Am I the only one thinking the Miami Vice content is excessive? The amount of this article which now details exactly how, when and where certain tracks have been used in the television show is severely over the top. 86.2.48.247 (talk) 23:25, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Out of print

This album is currently out of print, and asking prices in the used CD market are quite substantial. That's pretty unusual for an album as popular as this. If there is some well sourced legal or copyright reason for this, it would be worth noting in the article. Grundle2600 (talk) 16:16, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Personnel

The list says Laurie Anderson is on track 8 - but surely it is referring to track 9 on the original version. -- Beardo (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

• I took down the citation required tag on the personnel list as it was confusing to have it there - I thought someone was challenging her involvement. What might be the case is the track listing may be in error. All versions of So that I have seen have Excellent Birds as the final track, but for some reason here it is listed at #8. It is correct to have Laurie listed as being on #8 based on the listing here - the question is whether the track listing itself is correct. I don't own a copy of So, so I cannot verify on my own. Notes and legacy

At a concert at Red Rocks on September 30, 2012, Peter Gabriel told the story of having to move "In Your Eyes" from the end of the album due of the limitations of how much bass could be put on the inner tracks of vinyl records and then moving to the track 9 for the 2003 and 2012 re-releases. This also explains the above confusion as to where Laurie Anderson falls in the personel listing.
