Nine-point ball?

[edit]

Why is there no 9-point ball?? Georgia guy 18:40, 26 November 2005 (UTC) Because that's how it was invented. You can't really ask Joe Davis why he did it like this because he has been dead for over 30 years. It's a bit like asking "why isn't there a 21 on a dartboard?" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.196.147.28 (talk) 21:37, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

World Snooker Plus champion is someone called James Dennison?

[edit]
Resolved
 – Vanity edit removed.

Although the experiment never came close to rivalling the traditional game, Snooker Plus is still played by some. The current World Snooker Plus champion (as of January 2007) is James Dennison of Reading University and resident of Wantage Hall.

Sounds like a load of bollocks to me. After searching the Internet, I have found no evidence of snooker plus tournaments, no evidence of a proficient snooker player called James Dennison, so I'm sure this is just a joke that someone thought they'd make waiting for the evening session of the 2007 Masters Snooker final. A look through some websites does reveal this was an alternative version played by Joe Davis and so although seems like a joke is real. http://members.aol.com/snookermag/questions.htm --PrincessBrat 14:52, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The college student vanity edit surely wasn't, though. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 02:00, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge --> Snooker?

[edit]

Since it's a small entry, and the game's only difference is the introduction of two new balls, I'd like to propose merging this into Snooker, possibly under 'Variations' (or even perhaps 'Trivia'). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.221.140.237 (talk) 16:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. And those 2008 world rankings look like a fiction of someone's imagination! Clive everton?!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elgriff (talkcontribs) 03:25, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, look for sources one way or another. I've updated the text of the article to suggest that it is not an extinct game, but only on the basis of the recently-added material. This may need to be undone. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 01:57, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I reverted myself on that, and deleted all of the suspicious, unsourced information. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 02:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would oppose a merge. The game is, yes, a variation, but the snooker article is already long, and has already been split per WP:SUMMARY into several articles (rules of snooker, highest snooker break, etc.), so it doesn't make sense to bloat it again by moving something like this into it. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 02:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
