Ref infobox

[edit]

Regarding request for infobox.

This page is about a type of ship/boat, not a class of ships/boats or an individual ship/boat, and therefore it would be impossible to provide information for an infobox. A snagboat is essentially any, repeat any, barge with any type of cranes on it to pull various types of submerged objects from under the water. As a result, the barge could be any size, the equipment would be different depending on contemporary technology, speed or non-speed (some were towed), and so on. Some were small and some were big. Early ones were primitive, current ones are state-of-the art with lots of electronics.

Since a canoe meets the same argument: (motor, no motor, varied length, varied width, etc.) I doubt that a generic canoe page would have an infobox. So I don't see how a generic snagboat page would either.

Snagboats existed from before the American Revolution to present day, and consist of a variety of types, sizes, widths, lengths, propulsion, superstructure or no-superstructure, and so on.

Looking at some of the newer snagboats now built by the Army Corps of Engineers, I agree that each one, and its class, should have infoboxes. However, this page is about generic snagboats and should not be interpreted to represent a specific snagboat or a class of snagboats.Wikited (talk) 17:01, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
