Longest free-flowing river?

How is this the longest free-flowing river in California? The Santa Clara River is 116 miles (187 km) long and is not dammed anywhere along its length. Even if you take the 20-mile (32 km) Middle Fork of this river and add it to the length, it totals 40 miles (64 km) which is not half of the Santa Clara River. Scenic Smith River Canyon

The Middle Fork flows through a scenic rocky canyon, within the Recreation Area, which canyon is traversed by the Redwood Highway (US-199). This scenic highlight is certainly worth mentioning.67.185.163.124 (talk) 03:11, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
