miR-309
[edit]Smaug is expected to play a role in expression of three miRNAs – miR-3, miR-6, miR-309 and miR-286 during MZT in Drosophila.[6]
Except there are 4 miRNAs listed here..
By reading the paper it seems to me that Smaug affects the expression of a lot of miRNAs, more than those four. Those mentioned here belong to the miR 309 cluster, and in the paper they used northern blot to specifically detect the expression change of miR-3,6,286 by Smaug.
Among them smaug dependent expression of miR-309 is needed for destabilization of 410 maternal mRNA.[12]
The paper seems to claim that the whole cluster, composed of 8 miRNA (3, 4, 5, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, 286 and 309), and not just the one miR 309, destablize the maternal mRNA.
So I feel that these two phrases are not accurate.
