Manufacturers
[edit]"Applegate-Fairbairn" is listet as a manufacturer of smatchets.
There is no manufacturer of that name. Col. Applegate and Capt. Fairbairn were combat-instructors and designers of knives.
According to their designs those knives (including the smatchet) have been built by several companies.

Etymology?
