Is a smart client limited to a client that is run through a browser? For example, if a client is a desktop application that meets the other requirements of a smart client (e.g., requires no installation, automatically updates without user action) could the application still be considered a "smart client"?

- As I see it, there's no such limitation. Applications which use either Java Web Start or .NET ClickOnce could also be called smart clients.--Mormat (talk) 15:00, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
