[edit]Copied from WP:RMTR:
- Sliabh Beagh (currently a redirect to Slieve Beagh) → Slieve Beagh – Incorrect spelling. No such place name as Sliabh Beagh exists, it is referred to as Slieve Beagh in the Sources; I think the original Editor has got the Old Irish name of Sliabh Beatha (no longer used, refer to Sources) mixed up with the newer Anglicised name of Slieve Beagh. - Bibby – I moved the article, but on closer inspection, the "Sliabh Beagh" form seems to be attested in sources as well. See e.g. https://www.independent.ie/life/travel/ireland/walk-sliabh-beagh-an-off-radar-hike-from-irelands-only-community-run-hotel-41013003.html or https://monaghantourism.com/listing/sliabh-beagh-way/. Just sayin'. No such user (talk) 13:58, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, yes I have come across the mixing of English and Irish words before (I'll add a note about this incorrect spelling version sometimes used): FYI the Irish name is Sliabh Beatha (I've rarely come across Irish as primary name, mostly after the English in brackets); the English, or strictly speaking the Anglicised version (spelling and pronunciation made similar to English) is Slieve Beagh; and then you have people combining the two languages, such as Sliabh Beagh! Tourist type literature and sometimes businesses trying to stand out or sound more Irish tries to combine the two languages, kinda [fish nor fowl]. Bibby (talk) 14:44, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
