Personal history
[edit]This was a deposit that was discovered in the mid-1980s, when I was actively working in northern Nevada. At the time, AMAX Gold HQ was in Tucson, where my then-employer also had their HQ, and I knew many of the Amax people. I got a nice tour not long after the discovery, and somewhere I have a great picture of a stick of core from the discovery hole, as rich or richer as our photo. As you can imagine, the project geologist had a huge shit-eating grin as he held up his high-grade for photos.
I don't know why the old-time prospectors missed this one. Would have been as good a mine in 1890 as in 1990. Well, maybe because it took quite a number of expensive drill holes before the discovery hole -- just as the boss's boss was losing patience with the prospect! --Pete Tillman (talk) 19:50, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
