[edit]I have been trying to make this article more comprehensible to general readers. (There is more that needs to be done).
I provided a geographical map and relocated the diagram further down the page: I feel that the diagram is difficult for most people to follow, and the casual reader might be deterred from reading on. I hoped that a geographical map would be more encouraging.
Since my edit, the diagram has been repositioned, but there is no discussion or explanation here. I don't intend to descend into a reversion war here, or hair-splittting arguments, but it would be helpful if that editor could put forward the reason it is considered important to have the diagram at the top, and not further down.
(I think also that the diagram is inaccurate, but that is not my point). Afterbrunel (talk) 08:39, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well, after a week and a half, no response. I think it is important to make these railway articles attractive to readers who are not dyed-in-the-wool railway enthusiasts, and I am uncomfortable that the huge and ugly diagram is difficult to follow and is visually unhelpful when it is the first thing a reader sees on the page. There is a lot more to say about this short but interesting line; I'll have another go at adding some of that now, hoping for a positive resposne from other editors.
