National Merit Scholarship
[edit]Should we include a section about Skyview's lack of NMS semifinalists? I think it would add balance to the article that at present is too fawning. Maybe under the section about Skyview "besting other teams from prestigious schools in the area" under the Science Bowl headline? I mean, if not one student in a class of 400 some could earn a mediocre score on a simple test, that does say something about the school's academic quality, no?OPen2737 10:26, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
School Mascot
[edit]Does anybody know what the official mascot of Skyview is? I've heard conflicting opinions, with some saying that it's "The Storm," and some saying that it's "The Weatherman." Can anyone enlighten me on this? Someone recently changed the mascot to Storm on the Skyview article, and I want to make sure it's accurate. Kadeas 15:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Our team name is the Storm, while our mascot in the Weatherman. However, he's only ever seen at sports games, and isn't really mentioned anywhere else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.27.253.18 (talk) 05:00, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
It actually is now officially the Storm. The new mascot costume arrived for the 2009-2010 school year, and goes to football games and such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.34.118.15 (talk) 02:13, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Advertising
[edit]This article is far too positive. The only sport mentioned is the one they did well in, and it is mainly a list of achievements, rather than an encyclopedic description of what Skyview High School is like.
This sentence in particular is very biased:
- "This auditorium, along with the Lower Gym, is used to host productive assemblies which earnestly attempt to encourage their students that their lives amount to some higher destination and to possess greater aspirations for their future in leading positive, faithful, honest, virtuous and community-serving lives."
No one can be sure of the intent of the individuals giving the assemblies.
The article needs to reference facts about the school, and its students, not be a banner for school spirit, or a high school newsletter.

Citations
[edit]Also -- References should be included. Where are all the facts coming from? Where did the Mission Statement come from?
The link to the USTA site has nothing to do with Skyview at all.

There also need to be citations for any additional information, e.g. the claim of the school winning the state "Knowledge Bowl". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.112.86.89 (talk) 22:10, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Information Glut?
[edit]The wikipedia page for Skyview is extremely small and poor.
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to include information relating to the achievements, and descriptions of all clubs and activities and sports at Skyview. Or if that would be too much information.
Yes or no?

Ethnic Diversity
[edit]I added a section on the ethnic diversity, or lack thereof, at Skyview. I think this is an objective measurement of the ethnic population of the school and has valid reason for being there. If anyone want's to contend with this please respond here rather than just editing it away with no explanation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chronachronist (talk • contribs) 04:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
