Ownership
[edit]Who owns the Sci-Fi Channel in the UK. it is my understanding from looking at the website that it is owned by NBC Universal via a subsidery called Sci Fi Channels Europe LLC (see the contact email addresses here and here – all at the nbcuni.com domain and the copyright notice at the bottom of the www.scifiuk.com website).
User:Mistress Selina Kyle has edited the infobox to say that is independent and I seem to recall hearing that Vivendi Universal had sold it (way before the merger) but if so - what is with the email addys, can anyone give more authoritive information? – MrWeeble Talk Brit tv 11:59, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

I've also just left some feedback via their website asking them who owns the channel and giving them a link to this article. - Motor (talk) 13:01, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Don't hold your breath though:
"Dear Motor,
Thanks for your query. We really appreciate your comments, however due to demand we will endeavour to respond within 2 weeks. In the meantime keep watching the channel and using the website.
Many thanks
SCI FI" - Motor (talk) 13:26, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Surely the line about it being independant isn't true anymore? On the "about" page it clearly says that the parent company is NBC Universal. You can also access the SciFi UK site via http://www.uk.scifi.com/ and even the logo has been changed to match the US version (old logo) --Mercifull 10:41, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Feedback from the UK SciFi channel
[edit]Hi there!
Thank you for your recent message.
SCI FI UK is the sister company of SCI FI US. SCI FI UK is owned by Universal.
Hope that helps.

- Reply and ask them if that means they are owned by NBC Universal (rather than Vivendi Universal please?
- Ask them what "sister company" means in this context; if they are in fact part of the same company/the same company completely or not - I have noticed that a programmes on the US one aren't on in the UK one (a friend was telling me to go watch ghost hunters, but it's not on here..) ..
- Thanks for looking into this :) --Mistress Selina Kyle 16:54, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Sci Fi Channel (United Kingdom) vs. Sci Fi channel (United Kingdom)
[edit]I don't actually have the channel myself, but shouldn't channel be capitalised? DrWho42 08:25, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- No, because the channel's just called Sci Fi...and looking at the logo for the American channel, that seems to be just called Sci Fi too. In fact, I'd say all Sci Fi channel articles need the 'channel' removed, as the word seems to have been dropped from the name worldwide in about 1998ish. BillyH 23:19, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hello. I work for SCI FI, and that's how we spell it. All capitals, no hyphenation, just the same as all the other SCI FI channels across the world. We sometimes use SCI FI Channel, SCI FI (UK) or similar to distinguish ourselves where there might be confusion.
Centralized TV Episode Discussion
[edit]Over the past months, TV episodes have been redirected by (to name a couple) TTN, Eusebeus and others. No centralized discussion has taken place, so I'm asking everyone who has been involved in this issue to voice their opinions here in this centralized spot, be they pro or anti. Discussion is here [1]. Even if you have not, other opinions are needed because this issue is affecting all TV episodes in Wikipedia. --Maniwar (talk) 02:05, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:SciFi channel.svg
[edit]Image:SciFi channel.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
