Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because...
- Many large geophysics companies and their medium-sized counterparts are not at all or only partially represented on Wikipedia. Some examples are Creare, Inc. and Ansys, Inc.. Ansys has almost $2 billion in assets, more than many other companies with large articles, has a huge amount of PR, and is known by many, yet its' Wikipedia page is only one page long.
- Sky Research has been awarded many extremely large and prestigious contracts, such as one I mentioned on the page.
- Sky Research has offices internationally, and not just small ones at that: warehouses full of planes, trucks, and cars, along with multimillion dollar contracts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by StereotypicalApps (talk • contribs)
- Notability of companies is indicated not by the size of the company or the prestige of the contracts, but by the availability of significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. Given the lack of such sources available for Sky Research, the company is not notable. Note the difficulty of searching for sources, given such a generic company name. Searches return results for Blue Sky Research, Open Sky Research, Black Sky Research, etc. I was unable to find any sources other than this company's own website. I invite other editors to search, or the original author to post any sources xe knows of. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:23, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
@WikiDan61 Okay, I'll attempt to add more sources. StereotypicalApps (talk) 14:33, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Still in business?
[edit]Does this company still exist? I notice that their website is down. The last information in this article about them is that they were under investigation for bribing a federal official, who the news articles say provided all of their contracts.--Srleffler (talk) 02:13, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
