Definition
[edit]As far as I can see this article doesn't actually say what a skort _is_... Ewx (talk) 09:49, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
> Quite clearly it is defined within the first sentence of the article 'A skort is a pair of women's shorts with a flap of fabric in front to make it look like a skirt.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smithdan86 (talk • contribs) 01:34, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Skort in Culottes article
[edit]Skorts is also a sub-heading in the Culottes article. See that Discussion for a, well, discussion regarding whether there should be one or two articles. --Bruce Hall (talk) 08:08, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Short description
[edit]Even taking into account the short description mantra, the description of "a pair of shorts that resembles skirt" is not accurate enough. I'm sure we can do better with a bit of thought. Chaheel Riens (talk) 19:02, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- I suggest we wait three days, to give other editors a chance to contribute.
- Currently: Full shorts made to look like a skirt, or shorts with a skirt-like panel in front and back.
- 1) and back has to go. We have no WP:RS for it.
- 1) This is too long. WP:SHORTDES has: The short description ... is a concise explanation of the scope of the page. AND
- The short description should focus on distinguishing the subject from ones with similar titles rather than precisely defining it. So, we need something shorter.
- 3) This has too much detail. WP:SHORTDES has: The short description is not required to provide an adequate definition of the article subject. Which also implies that a high of accuracy is not needed.
- 5) Alternatives:
- 5A) My previous edit meets all three points: pair of shorts that resembles a skirt.
- 5B) Goes beyond the language of the article & its two sources: hybrid garment that functions as shorts but resembles a skirt.
- Please add other suggestions — Lentower (talk) 19:34, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- I agree about "and back" - one of the defining aspects of a skort - and as supported by the article - is that they essentially are a skirt form the front and shorts from the back.
- Shorts with a skirt panel at the front?

Culottes vs. Skorts
[edit]As previously mentioned, there is a separate article for culottes which includes a section on skorts. While keeping both articles, maybe it would help to clarify the difference between the two terms. There is also a connection to jupe-culottes/harem pants that can be further explored. Dubious definition
[edit]The current definition in the article says shorts with a flap in front *and* back resembling a skirt. If it's front and back it doesn't resemble it is. But more to the point, this definition does match with common usage, or indeed the description on Shorts, which describes a flap on the front only. --76.24.24.247 (talk) 21:51, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
AD-like Copy in 'Womens Sports' section
[edit]The Lululemon paragraph in the Women's Sports section reads like someone slipped a spot of ad copy into wiki.
- It's just possible that such a claim is notable, so I've added a {{CN}} tag. If it's not clarified in a month or so, it can be removed.
