Sisk in USA
[edit]I'm a Sisk and my dad told me they came to America from Ireland in the early 1880's along with many other Scots-Irish settlers in Virginia and North Carolina. You can now find this surname prominently in those states as well as Tennessee and Kentucky.75.191.173.130 (talk) 04:02, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- Your ancestors most likely arrived in the 1680's rather than 1880's. In North America, there are two main branches to the family. The first arrived via Bristol in the 1680's and landed in the Southern United States, and the second branch settled in New Brunswick, Canada, circa 1820. Most northern Sisk's would be members of this second branch, their ancestors having immigrated to New England in the mid-late 19th century to work in factories. I can't source all of this properly, but I am confident that it is pretty accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zapallon (talk • contribs) 19:32, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
