Deputy lieutenant
[edit]According to the Obituary in The Times, 18 October 1901, he was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of Stirlingshire. There are mistakes in the obituary (they write he was succeeded by his son, Charles james, who was in reality his nephew), but this is the neighbouring district to his residence in the town of Milngavie, and he thus has a more obvious connection to the county than Nottinghamshire. I have thus changed from Nottinghamshire to Stirlingshire (Takvaal (talk) 12:58, 29 September 2013 (UTC))
