[edit]Why "male & female prostitution?" What would all other prostitution mean, then?
Soho, London
[edit]I am British and have lived in London for several years, but I've never heard of Soho referred to a Sin City.
King's Cross, Sydney, Australia
[edit]as with the above, I am an Australian and I have never heard of King's Cross being referred to as a Sin City. Red Light District is probably a better term for it, going by both the term we call it, and the definition stated at the top of the article. King's Cross is a pretty small portion of Sydney Lynx Raven Raide 01:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Montréal, Québec, Canada
[edit]I'm from montreal and I can testify that the city doesn't have much sexshop or strip club than any other city. In fact, all city in japan should be worst than any other place... NullEntropy 10:33, 18 december 2007 (UTC)
- This article is highly unsourced. All that is needed is verification that a place is called "Sin City"; ideally, sources should explain why. (Sources saying a place is "bad", a red-light district, or generally licentious are not adequate.)
- I gave Montréal a {{fact}} tag. If a reliable source is not produced in a couple weeks, delete. Give it some time — I don't believe many editors watch this article, and most watching are probably trying to keep their city off. Since the main thesis is unsourced, such editors would be advised to persue an AfD instead. / edg ☺ ☭ 16:51, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- I also agree that this article should be considered for deletion or at least major changes. There is no reliable source for many of the cities and I think that as a very contentious issue there is every more reason to have sources.Ncu s0cc3r (talk) 05:49, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Cities needing verification
[edit]I was thinking of {{fact}} tagging Amsterdam as well, tho a Google search found "Amsterdam Sin City" on many blogs. My understanding of the term "Sin City" is a district where licentiousness (of some sort) is tolerated amidst a larger regional culture of conservative morality. Amsterdam might flunk this despite having a famous red-light district. I'm not sure the Dutch call it "Sin City", but perhaps other Europeans do.
If the place is not commonly called Sin City (or "a Sin City", or otherwise very strongly implied, e.g. "City of Sin" Lynn, Massachusetts), it is not "Sin City". / edg ☺ ☭ 17:07, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
How about Miami?
[edit]Miami is city that have Miami Beach, and etc. But I'm think Miami is very poorly for this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roif456 (talk • contribs) 10:33, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
This article is ridiculous
[edit]I think you all ought to require at least one RS that describes a place as "sin city" before it's allowed on the list. And at least one RS for each reason that's listed after it. I mean, really. Maybe you all can find someone who described LA as "sin city," although I doubt it, but no one ever said that because of freaking paparazzi. It's like some weird fever-dream, this article.75.83.209.135 (talk) 23:53, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- I agree. The link for Los Angeles is actually to an article in the Los Angeles Rimes — about Los Vegas! There is no reference/support for including Los Angeles in this article. 108.164.9.4 (talk) 15:40, 10 June 2023 (UTC)

"New York"
[edit]- New York City formerly known for out of control crime, Times Square's sex shops and prostitution and barely hidden drug trade and citywide gangs, including many Mob families and police and political corruption. Did I not get the memo that NYC is not a centre of crime or something? How is it formerly known for out of control crime? It's New York
