I'll get to this in the next few days. Ealdgyth (talk) 23:45, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
  • I randomly googled three phrases and only turned up Wikipedia mirrors. Earwig's tool shows no sign of copyright violation.
  • Spotchecks:
    • "Morgan was born in 1821 in Rutherford County, Tennessee," is sourced to this source which supports the information
    • "The details of his early life are obscure" is sourced to this source
    • "although the exact date is not known" is sourced to this source which supports the information ... although I do note the qualifier in the source that "The descendants of his only daughter ... do not know his exact birth date." It might be worth qualifying that in the wiki article.
  • Biography:
    • "over the incumbent William Bacon Wright." "beating the incumbent" perhaps?
    • "while he was in en route to the next congressional session" "in en route" is redundant maybe "while he was traveling to the next congressional session"
    • Can we explicate why his brothers-in-law are important? Likewise his son-in-law? And ... can we give the name of his first wife rather than just "sister of" - the marriage was in Lafayette County, Arkansas - and her name there is given as "Emma Garland" see this Ancestry.com record or this Family Search record. As an aside - this Family Search record appears to be for his second marriage - here's Simpson's Family Search record
I've put the article on hold for seven days to allow folks to address the issues I've brought up. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, or here with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on. @Ealdgyth: - All is done so far except for the inclusion of his first wife's name. I've added a little more from the new source. I'm just hesistant to cite primary marriage records here due to the near impossibility of proving that this is the same Simpson Morgan as the article is referring to. I don't know why none of the secondary sources I have been able to consult for this figure provide the name of his first wife. Hog Farm Talk 23:32, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I wouldn't include the Ancestry stuff either, but I wanted to dig it up to show that secondary sources are lacking. As for why the secondary sources don't mention the name of his first wife - it's likely because they are old fogeys and writing in the 70s when that sort of thing "wasn't important". Anyway, looks good, passing this now. Ealdgyth (talk) 14:55, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
