Gravestone
[edit]A stone plaque with the same inscription and a carved 'cameo' of Simon hangs on the wall in the lobby of the PDSA Hospital in Durnford Street, Plymouth, Devon. Is this a copy of the Ilford gravestone or is it the original and so has been moved away from Simon's grave? Plutonium27 (talk) 03:18, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- If you're referring to the plaque shown in the picture in this article - https://time.com/5396568/simon-cat-war-medal/ then the answer is no, it isn't a copy: nor does it resemble the gravestone shown in the Wikipedia article. Maurice Sturt (talk) 14:35, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
Notable ... How?
[edit]How is this notable? - Geofferic (talk) 07:10, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- It seems pretty notable to me, it was obviously in the news in the UK at the time and it is sourced. There are many other similar articles about animals in war on Wikipedia. I seen no reason that it should be merged, as there is quite a lot of information here and it would only clutter up the HMS Amethyst article. --Hibernian (talk) 20:52, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Alleged copyvio
[edit]Upon closer inspection, the text of the page has its origins in this edit by Jackyd101 on 24 October 2006. The earliest archive of the MartimeQuest page is dated 10 November 2007, at the bottom of which it states, "Page created Oct. 5, 2007." It is therefore clear that the MartimeQuest page is a copy of the earlier Wikipedia text, rather than the reverse. I am therefore removing the Copyvio tag. - Good detective work! I've run into several similar copyvios myself over the years. In one case, when reading the text that WP supposedly plagiarized, I recognized some sentences that I had edited myself (but not originally written)! WP has been online long enough that we're seeing this more and more. Fortunately, the founders saw the wisdom of keeping complete article histories. - BilCat (talk) 18:24, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
