Elaborate street parties were thrown across the country, like this one in Plymouth.

I'm putting a picture I received permission to use on the talk page until I can receive a GFDL or public domain release. Mike H 04:26, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

He said it was fine to use under GFDL so I've moved it back. Mike H 15:35, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Just a few points about the Sex Pistols "God Save the Queen" - please listen to the lyrics before passing judgement. It does NOT call the Royal Family a "fascist regime". The lyrics actually say "God save the queen, your facist regime, they made you a moron...." In other words, the Queen's regime [the government] have caused the Queen herself to become totally pointless. The lyrics also say that "there's no future in England's dreaming...". In other words, for most people in Britain there isn't any point in having dreams because you will be kept down and prevented from realising them. The lyrics did not infer that there was "no future" per se, and in fact far from being an attack on the British nation, it was more in support of them, bemoaning the poor quality lives that most Britons had.
