Clarifying in-sentence reference
[edit]In the "Underground" section, the following reference: until, Bissell claims, does not clearly signal whether it was Silas or Judith Bissell who held this suspicion. Clarification would help here, as would a supporting reference. Historytrain (talk) 15:59, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
NY Times Article
[edit]There's an excellent article about Silas Bissell in the NY Times, January 26, 1987 with references to an alias and his "red hat" theory. You can find the article here: http://www.nytimes.com/1987/01/26/us/to-live-unnoticed-17-year-fugitive-says-wear-a-red-hat.html (Sherlockhemlock (talk) 09:14, 24 May 2010 (UTC))
My thoughts
[edit]After reading the post/biography of Silas Bissell I was impressed with the layout and was intrigued by his history. I am also left curious "Did the Weathermen frame him or set him up?" MyWiki2010 (talk) 06:28, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Can you elaborate on Hillary's encouragement to her son? What did she teach him, to do with civil rights?Elizabethgaye22 (talk) 04:59, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
I would suggest moving a few sentences around regarding his college days. I would suggest putting the high school reference before the University of Michigan sentence.Elizabethgaye22 (talk) 04:59, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
So after reading the Bissell page again I must say it is a very good biography with clear structure and sections. Good job to all those who contributed. I am curious however, when he attended school and when he was employed over the years, while a fugitive, what name or names did he use? I would think an alias would make it more difficult for the FBI or police to catch up with him. Did he and his first wife have any kids? Did Silas ever father any children? I am just curious. Degrees received while underground
[edit]The article says that Bissell received degrees from two different schools (North Carolina Central and Duke) while he was underground. Did he receive these degrees under an assumed name, using forged documents? I am interested in how he was able to receive these degrees while he was being hunted by the FBI.--Wrih (talk) 22:17, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
I thought that he received his second Bachelors Degree and Second Masters degree after he was released from jail. At least that is what I gathered from reading the Silas Bissell section. MyWiki2010 (talk) 14:49, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
According to the Underground subheading: "He went back to school and earned a bachelor's in biology from North Carolina Central University in 1979 and a master's degree in physical therapy from Duke University in 1981." He was arrested in 1987. (Sherlockhemlock (talk) 02:47, 4 June 2010 (UTC))
Trim Bissell
[edit]It seems like there should be a redirect from Trim Bissell, since he was also known by that name. I don't know how to do that. 50.135.209.86 (talk) 07:11, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
