Sorority which then admitted women?
[edit]Rich jj In the first paragraph of the history, it reads as it the group was first a sorority and then admitted women.Naraht (talk) 14:40, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Naraht I agree that's confusing. That's why I added the [clarification needed] tag. The original text started with this: "Sigma Gamma Chi originated with Lambda Delta Sigma." A bit later it said "Soon afterwards it also admitted women into its membership. In 1967 the LDS Church assumed management of the group and it was divided into a fraternity, Sigma Gamma Chi, and a sorority, Lambda Delta Sigma."
- It wasn't clear how specifically it originated with Lambda Delta Sigma (the sorority) but didn't yet admit women? Was its creation only inspired by Lambda Delta Sigma? And then seems to say Lambda Delta Sigma was divided out of Sigma Gamma Chi. I'm confused. Did they merge and then later split again? ——Rich jj (talk) 14:55, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I just found some clarification. Looking at the Encyclopedia of Latter-day Saint History article on "Sigma Gamma Chi", it says Lambda Delta Sigma was coeducational and then became a sorority in 1967, which is when the Sigma Gamma Chi fraternity was created. And from the same book, the article on Lambda Delta Sigma also clarifies that Lambda Delta Sigma was originally a fraternity, then became coed, then turned into a sorority. I'll clarify this in the article. ——Rich jj (talk) 15:06, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Looks better. Right now Lambda Delta Sigma redirects to the LDSSA. I'm wondering if there should be a separate Lambda Delta Sigma Article or if these are just so folded together that one article would be clearer.Naraht (talk) 15:29, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Lambda Delta Sigma (LDS Church) has been a redirect to LDSSA since it was created in 2007, and I don't think anybody has done a writeup about the sorority, but I agree that it should exist somewhere. It could be its own article, or in the LDSSA article, or here in the Sigma Gamma Chi article. I think it makes the most sense to expand the redirect into an article about the sorority. ——Rich jj (talk) 16:31, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Wish we could get the entries in the EoM that are used in this article.Naraht (talk) 17:39, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
