Tsunashige

[edit]

I was looking up who lead the battle of Kawagoe and found two candidates: Hojo Tsunashige (son in law of Hojo Ujiyasu, see Hōjō Ujiyasu) and Hojo Tsunanari (adopted brother of Hojo Ujiyasu, see Hōjō Tsunanari). The sources I found on google are not in unison about this. Samurai archives gives both options Tsunashige and Tsunari. I see several options:

  • One of them was present and the other was not
  • They were both present and one was the actual leader

Also there might be a mix up in naming. I found one source where Hojo Tsunanari (brother) is called Hojo Tsunashige (brother), but it is def the same person (see [1]). Possibly Tsunari is also known as Tsunashige , or maybe the kanji can be read like this? This might have caused a mix up.

Does anyone know more about this? Who really lead the battle of Kawagoe?

In case of no reply, for the moment, when I translate articles into dutch, I will assume that Tsunari lead the attack, that some sources call him Tsunashige, and that Tsunashige was present but did not lead the defense. Kind regards, Taketa (talk) 12:19, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
