Kolinsky?

[edit]

Why is there no mention on this page of the species also being referenced as "Kolinsky"/"Kolinski"? As referred to for example on this wiki-page: Kolinsky sable-hair brush An yet the mammal's name is used in both forms under the Siberian weasel#Cultural significance section of this article. (As well as being redirected here from the Kolinsky. Also listed as such on Encyclopaedia Britannica.) Supposedly this colloquial name comes from the region where the best winter fur from the Siberian Weasels for the quality brushes came from, though I certainly wasn't able to find such. (The Kola Peninsula romanized from Russian as Kolsky isn't in the Siberia and shouldn't host the weasels in question, the tiny island of Kolinskiy [1]https://yandex.ru/maps/geo/ostrov_kolinskiy/1575058654 59.459573, 91.066281 from the Yeniseysky district in Russia likely isn't it either.)

(Discussion on the subject for example in the following artist's forum: [2]https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/topic/difference-between-quot-red-sable-quot-and-quot-kolinsky-quot/ ) Zaelot (talk) 13:59, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
