GA Reassessment

[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch
As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force, all old good articles are being re-reviewed to ensure that they meet current good article criteria (as detailed at WP:WIAGA. I have determined that this article needs some upkeep to maintain its status.

  • The main issue is one of referencing. Simply citing the book or portions of a book, as this article does, is not enough for WP:V. We need individual page numbers for each statement cited.
  • The secondary issue is one of accessibility. Those not familiar with Japanese culture, feudal or not, will not know what many of the terms mean unless they click on them—this interrupts flow. Where possible, likely unfamiliar terms should be explained. Examples (just within the lead): "ukiyo-e", "Edo period" (dates?), "chonin", "shogunate".
  • Links that lead to disambig pages ([1]) or are redirects (I found at least one in the lead) should be fixed.
  • Sentence groups that are less than three sentences long are not true paragraphs, and should be merged, expanded, or cut.

I am putting the article on hold for seven days pending improvements. Please keep me appraised in this space. Thanks, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 19:30, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As no improvements have been made in the allotted time period, I am delisting. The article can be renominated at WP:GAN any time; however I encourage nominators to address the above issues. Questions can be brought to my talk page. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 18:53, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
