Moved this from the main page, sounds like an attempt at a joke... International Strawpedo Association? No such thing found on a google search...
Official World Record attempts must use a standard 330ml glass bottle of Smirfnoff Ice with an ISA (International Strawpedo Association) standard straw. The bottle must remain vertical and the correct way up until after the signal to start has been given. Once the drink is finished the empty bottle must be held above head height. Spillage is banned and the maximum remaining volume of drink allowable after the attempt (to account for surface tension related undrinkable volume) is 1.25ml (reduced from 1.5ml in 2002).
The current World Record was set in June 2004 and is held by Tim Spanky at 0.7983 seconds though he is currently in training with the aim of setting a new record in 2007.

Etymology
[edit]Can someone clarify where the term 'shotgun' for this comes from? 70.162.229.116 (talk) 20:50, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I wanted to know what year that shotgunning beer cans begin? DajFed (talk) 05:33, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
History
[edit]The 'history' subsection under the "Techniques" heading (which, if verified, should probably be given a separate section), refers to a book to which I can find no external references. I also can't find any reference to a "Horst Veiners" which does not lead back to this page. Also, 'The Fuhrer' refers to Adolf Hitler, he would not have had that title until 1934, leaving Horst at most 2 years to write and publish his autobiography. I suggest removing this section until we have an ISBN number or something to verify the existence of this book. I've added a 'citation needed' tag for now and left it in. 0x0077BE (talk) 19:23, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
