Edit update

  • "Just as sport can become a major consumer activity, shopping can be a major psychological interest for some people. The type of shopping can be a market differentiator, whether for clothes, perfume, shoes, hats, and so forth.

I have deleted the paragraph

I believe the same information is in other parts of the article and this paragraph is disorganizing our page.

Page organization

I have switched around the "Retail Pricing" section and the "Kinds of Shops" section. Formerly the "Kinds of Shops" section came first in the article. I believe "Kinds of Shops" is more of a list and "Retail Pricing" is a more important subject, "Retail Pricing" should come first and "Kinds of Shops" should come second. Also, there is a picture of a credit card in the "See also" section, there is no need for this picture as it is not referring to anything in the article so I have removed it.

Kinds of Shops Section

The "Kinds of Shops" section provides information of which is not needed as the same information can be found in the links that it lists. I will remove this un-needed information until further notice and/or discussion.

Moved from Article for cleanup - Shopping Addictions

Shopping Addictions can be very harmful to the health of the addictee. Many may not know this, and this is to inform of the serious problems. A shopping addict will shop to stop their problems. Some signs of being a shopping addict (or SAB) are: -frequent shopping, -buying of unnessecary items, -frequent debt, -maxed out on many credit and/or debit cards. To deal with this problem, SAB's should seek help. They should attend an SABA meeting (Shopping Addiction Anonymous). They should also have a loved one help out by cutting off their supply of credit cards, debit cards, or access to their bank account.

Revert.

Reverted because some tool added this:

Oh... someone beat me to it. 59.154.26.124 04:23, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

i am thinking about talking about why people actually get to being obsessed with shopping and what shopping means to people. shopping is in fact the act of spending money of some type of good whether it be grocery shopping or other types of shopping. when people shop most do it because they actually do need whatever they came to that establishment to buy, but most shop for fun or enjoyment. instead of playing outside or walking your dog the most common interest of everyone is to go to the mall and consume. this is consumers fault partially for falling into the trap that the media sets for them.every day we are constantly exposed to billboards, commercials, or even ads in magazines telling us in order yo be cool or fit in you should purchase that certain item. i think with shopaholics they cannot recognize when they are shopping for fun, and when they become addicted to it, and must do it on regular basis. some people shop to deal with their emotions and how they are feeling at the time, or they want to consume to be accepted by our society. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Linglingla (talkcontribs) 04:14, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Some day if not already

Some day the forum neologism "shopped" meaning "photoshopped" will be used in a publication. At that time a disambiguation page may be neccessary, or a "do you mean photoshop?" 66.41.66.213 20:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

I'd like to see the history of shoppping here

I understand that standardized pricing was invented by Quakers or Shakers in early America: before that prices were not posted and were always haggled.. or so I have heard. I also heard that the verb "to shop" was not used before the 16th century: I guess there was not enough commercial activity to count "shopping" as an activity? Of course I was trying to look up this information on Wikipedia and could not find it, I am no expert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.5.12.186 (talk) 18:51, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

Anyone agree...

That the part on online shoppping is too small and it is an advert for zaverat company? I'll link it to the online shopping article and delete the advert. Rmg12 (talk) 18:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

The whole section was added last month by the Zaverat spammer. I'll go ahead and remove it (along with the "home shopping" external link that crept in at the same time), as we've already got a link to "online shopping" in the previous section. Good catch. --McGeddon (talk) 18:55, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Two opposite meanings?

I've always thought that window shopping means to browse through a shop's wares just to look at them, but rarely actually buying anything. Wiktionary confirms this. Can anyone elaborate? 72.197.170.12 (talk) 07:54, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
