About the new version

[edit]

I've tried to do something which does'nt borrow Sam Chan's works word for word, like the previous version did from bjj.org (http://bjj.org/editorials/19980215-prowrest/). That was the idea. Some new images and links would be well appreciated.Freedom skies 02:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Changing the article requires that you post references to the material you added. --Marcus 09:28, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should really add references for the new information. Non-verifiable material can and should be removed unless references can be found.--Marcus 03:53, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, there is nothing new in the article, the phrasing has been done in a manner which distinguishes it from the Sam Chan version. As for the references, try Karl Istaz, Pehlwani, Pancrase, Shooto, shootfighting and similar links withing wikipedia itself. Freedom skies 09:16, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are several paragraphs and statements (such anything about Pehlwani), which aren't mentioned in Chan's work. The part about Karl Istaz should also be referenced, regardless of it being in another article on Wikipedia. You can't reference Wikipedia itself. --Marcus 09:48, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should take a look at http://www.scientificwrestling.com/ and go to the Fujiwara DVD section and the christmas with Karl gotch thing. Mentions of Hindu Squats and training methodlogies are given in these section complete with Hindu Squats, Hindu Mace, Great Gama etc. Freedom skies 10:12, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also try going to Frank Shamrock's trainer's article on http://www.scientificwrestling.com/public/180.cfm?sd=2 and the complete catch wrestler section at http://www.scientificwrestling.com/products/item16.cfm . there are mentions of using both the indian mace and yoga for conditionng and strength. 59.94.100.3 11:00, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hybridwrestling.gif

[edit]

Image:Hybridwrestling.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"the strong shoot style/strong style wrestling"

[edit]

I am confused by the use of the term "Strong Style" In reference too UWF. Strong style is not actually a style of wrestling but essentially NJPW from the 80's. So I am just wondering if it may be a good idea to take off the reference to UWF being Strong style because in reality it's not a style of wrestling and there really isn't a definition. The image Image:Logo isfa.gif is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

linked in "kami", unlinked "god"

[edit]

In this sentence: "Gotch attained legendary status in Japan, earning the name of Kamisama ('god of wrestling')." I have added the link pointing to "kami" to the word "kamisama" and deleted the link to "god" (from word "god") because in appreciating the meaning of "kamisama" the article about "kami" does help, while the previously linked article to "god" was rather misleading. 178.164.137.62 (talk) 23:57, 30 January 2015 (UTC).[reply]
