[edit]I've rephrased the penultimate sentence to:
Since her arrest, the court proceeding has met with strong international criticism that saw it as an illegal measure taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran to further repress the right of dissent, and freedom of speech and called for her immediate release.
which is more grammatically correct than before but still not perfect...
