Are there other members of this formation?
[edit]It mentions the lowest unit. Are there other named units? If there are relevant differences, perhaps the constituent members should be standalone articles? Trilotat (talk) 00:07, 2 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Trilotat: The most recent online stratigraphy divides the formation into lower, middle and upper beds, so I don't think the article should be divded. As a rule of thumb, geological formations should be the main encyclopedic unit, with member beds being discussed as a sub section within the formation article. There might be a case for creating separate articles for the "lower" and "upper" Shaximiao Formations but the stratigraphy for that is currently unresolved. - On this note, why does Shishugou Formation dinosaur traps need to be a stand-alone article? I've added a merge tag. FunkMonk (talk) 10:25, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
