Use in Japanese media

The section on pop-culture could stand to be expanded, as this device is seen in anime or Japanese live-action pretty much any time the setting is a garden or onsen. Frequently, a shot of this device making its noise is used to punctuate some dramatic or comedic event that has just happened, in the way a rimshot might be used to punctuate a joke. I don't yet know of any cite-worthy source to explain all this in the page itself, though. I suppose I'll just have to keep looking. —Robotech_Master (talk) 20:02, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
