None of the definitions of "terminal" provided encompass how the term is used at some of the larger U.S. ports. A "terminal" in U.S. parlance can be a self-contained port location with its own separate harbor, multiple berths and piers, etc. The term "port" is used to refer to any and all properties (terminals) managed by a single port authority.

Perhaps a new article is in order?
