External links
[edit]I've just removed several external links - two "examples" to pages advertising specific homes and a directory. A link to an academic department in the UK which potentially could be good but since the page had virtually no information on Sheltered Housing itself and was almost entirely devoted to promoting the schools courses and services really didn't add value for the general reader And one to a general page on care for older people that wasn't specifically about Sheltered housing.
There are two remaining links and I left them as they weren't as egregious as the others but I don't think either of them are particular good and I certainly wouldn't object if another editor thought they shouldn't stay. They suffer from being aimed at a specific audience - those looking for care or already involved in providing care. Our articles are supposed to be for the general reader and links should generally give information that isn't presumptive of the reader's need for a service. -- SiobhanHansa 15:50, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
care in a sheltered housing
[edit]The point of reference and departure in sheltered homes is the element of care offered whilst retaining a level of independence. I am about to take up a sheltered home and am a chronically disabled person with a progressively degenerative neurological illness. The point is that I am relatively young nat 55 years and not at a stage where I need a 24/7/52 nursing home, so this home will give me the opportunity to retain some independence and receive care on a sliding scale as my condition worsens. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Martconway (talk • contribs) 08:51, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Too specific as to one country
[edit]The article is presented as if sheltered housing were unique to the United Kingdom--it is not.
I have edited the introductory paragraph to broaden the term description and define the examples of sheltered housing given as from the U.K.
It would be good to expand the article with examples of how sheltered housing is organized in other countries. I am not an expert on this so just leaving this suggestion for those who are and know how about sheltered housing elsewhere in thew world.BillDeeUS (talk) 13:54, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
