This is the reason why I have sourced but the New York politics article acknowledging this claim and the original press release from 2013. I had earlier made careless typos and inaccurate edits, which I later erased, out of my personal distrust of the Wikipedia Community, but now it is accurate.2601:447:4101:B820:FDDD:B235:FDDF:A505 (talk) 02:37, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Evidently Abdus-Salaam's husband has set up a website, Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam, where he and other family members have posted messages, including statements to the public and information about the public memorial service. I'd like other editors' opinions whether it is a suitable addition to the "External links" section of the article, in accordance with our external link guideline.
It's not an "official website" and I don't think it satisfies any of the other criteria in WP:ELYES. It might satisfy the fourth criterion under WP:ELMAYBE: "Sites that fail to meet criteria for reliable sources yet still contain information about the subject of the article from knowledgeable sources." I don't think it falls under any of the criteria of WP:ELNO, except possibly #2 ("factually inaccurate material or unverifiable research", but that's a pretty strong accusation) or #11 (blogs, except those written by a recognized authority).
Thanks for bringing it to the attention of folks here before including it. Unfortunately, I don't see how it's useful to us. It isn't a link to her, but one about her. I also don't see how memorial, tribute or family pages are encyclopedic. It also appears that such material would violate a panoply of areas under WP:NOTEVERYTHING. Thanks again. Thank you for your thoughts. Of course it's not a link to Abdus-Salaam; like most URLs, it's a link to a website. Also, please read WP:NOT more carefully. I suggested adding an external link to a Wikipedia article about a notable individual; you cited a policy about some subjects that should not have encyclopedia articles. Thanks again. — Malik ShabazzTalk/Stalk03:58, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. Regarding WP:external link, please review WP:LINKSTOAVOID. Specifically, #11. Also, if you take a second look at WP:NOTEVERYTHING, you'll see that it's actually a section which contains 11 other subsections discussing things we don't generally include, not just as article subjects. The site is clearly a blog, as specifically discussed at WP:NOTBLOG. So I still believe it's not an appropriate external link. But, of course, if you still disagree you're always free to RfC it. Thanks again. X4n6 (talk) 07:06, 26 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
