Name
[edit]Shaul is Hebrew. Outside Jewish circles he was Saul. Only in Russia was he Saul Gutmanovich. In Heidelberg & Lausanne he must have been Saul (probably also Tsch- , not Tch-). When translated he was most likely Saul, at least until after his death & the establishment of Israel (see for instance here in the Colloquia Humanistica (2014), or here, in the Jewish Chronicle (1973), or here in a 1944 British obituary, or the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reporting on his funerals in 1943, and so forth).
