I would like to know what's the meaning of the word "shakwak" and which language it comes from.

The highways involved in the project mostly pass through the Shakwak Valley or Trench, a geographical feature. Shakwak is, more than likely, a First Nations (American Indian) word. Unfortunately, even my book "Yukon Places & Names" does not explain the origin of Shakwak. GBC (talk) 21:29, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
