Disambiguation?
[edit]The only Shakespear without an e in WP is clearly Captain William Shakespear, so in my book this should at least go to disambiguation. (Arguably, should go to Captain William Shakespear directly.) As it stands, anyone who knows how to spell his name properly is punished by having to go via William Shakespeare, then disambiguation. NB there is a back link on the Captain William Shakespear article to the Bard. Anjouli 16:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

I suggest that appearance in the journal referenced and in xkcd webcomic give him enough notability to be listed in a disambiguation page for Shakespear (note not Shakespare). Please discuss. Garemoko (talk) 22:14, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Withdrawn by nominator. I agree with В²C's comments, and a special thanks to Gorthian for his edits to the dab page. --Nevé–selbert 17:56, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
Shakespear → Shakespear (disambiguation) – Shakespear should be an {{R from misspelling}}
redirect to William Shakespeare per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. It's a rather common misspelling of his surname (searching for Shakespear on Google automatically corrects my search to "Shakespeare"); see Spelling of Shakespeare's name for further details. Besides, the great playwright is undoubtedly insurmountable when it comes down to long-term significance. The dab is an unnecessary obstacle for those unsure about the correct spelling of his name. --Nevé–selbert 17:45, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose The current setup is probably more pedagogically effective than the proposed one. One extra click is a small price to pay for the benefit of learning the correct spelling. I wouldn't call it an obstacle, much less an unnecessary one. I am astonished to find that this page gets dozens of hits per day. [1] --В²C ☎ 21:09, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
